"Jami
Israfil's "Stop Hatin' " sweatshirts certainly appear
to be timely. The Dayton Public Schools bus driver came
up with the idea after listening to young people on his job.
The slogan has two meanings, according to Israfil. "First
it means just what it says in terms of race and human
relations," he explains. "You know, we need to stop hating
each other because of race, color or creed.
"The second meaning is probably less apparent to those
of us who are over 30," he says.
"In young people-ese, hatin' means envy, backbiting, dis-
respect and other similar negative human behaviors that
we have to deal with on a daily basis. The slogan
advocates the end of such negativity."
Maybe some of our political leaders will take the slogan
under advisement as well? "
